(Frequently Asked Questions) Class Expectations:
1. Come to class! 2. Take notes, use them and other resources such as handouts and books to complete assignments. Google Translate is NOT always accurate. 3. Complete classwork at home if you were absent. 4. Participate; ask questions if and when you don't understand. 5. Study concepts you do not understand at home. 6. Check the website for assignments. Learn how to use my website. 7. Use laptops independently. Learn how to log in, log off, and access online resources. 8. Communicate with me and the office about absences via email, phone, and/or Remind. What level is this class? This is a multi-level class. Students in this class are at various levels in their English language abilities. However, the materials in this class are usually 1st-2nd grade equivalent. What do we do in class? Our class focuses on both work and life English. You will learn grammar, vocabulary, conversation, and U.S. history and citizenship. In addition, you will also be doing some group work, as well as working on computers. We do not study one area for 3 hours. Will I have homework? If you are absent from class, you are expected to complete assignments at home. You are also expected to study concepts you do not understand at home. I can't come to class on a certain day because I have to work. Is this a problem? If you are unable to come to class on a particular day, again, you are expected to complete assignments at home and be ready for class when you return. Assignments are posted on the "Weekly Assignments" page. It is very important that you complete assignments and study at home. You will be tested on concepts we learn in class, and you are expected to be prepared to the best of your ability. Why is my spouse/brother/sister/friend in another teacher's class and I am in this class? Students are placed into classes according to their test scores. We will not discuss another student's test score with you. This is confidential (private) information. Please remember that teachers do not place students into classes and cannot move students into other classes. |
